We’re looking for an Applications Specialist to support and enhance the systems that keep our nationwide container refund network running. Based in Oakleigh, this role is hands-on and central to ensuring the performance, reliability and continuous improvement of our core operational platforms.
About the role
Oversee and support Return-It’s operational systems across Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) VIC, ACT, QLD and WA.
Act as the primary systems support and maintenance contact for head office and site operations.
Triage issues, manage tickets end to end, and work closely with external vendors and developers.
Analyse recurring issues, identify patterns and implement corrective actions.
Maintain and improve system configurations, reporting, data integrity and operational workflows.
Automate monitoring processes and proactively identify risks before they impact operations.
Ensure reliability and availability of systems and networks alongside specialist providers.
Contribute to business planning and operational improvement initiatives.
Participate in or lead IT and operations projects.
Act as a key point of contact for senior team members and strategic partners.
About you
Associate degree in Computer Science or similar, with MIS knowledge.
5–10 years’ experience in IT systems management, administration, support or project environments.
Experience in CDS operations or integrated retail/transactional technology environments.
Strong experience with APIs, barcode systems, cloud platforms and data integrations.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and documentation skills.
Experience configuring cloud systems, networks, POS hardware, scanners and industrial devices.
Customer-focused, able to work autonomously or in a decentralised team.
Desired skills: SQL, Python, data engineering, image recognition or AI-enabled retail technologies.
