About the roleJoin Independence Australia as a
Senior Accounts Officer and support the Accounts Receivable team while providing guidance to Accounts Officers and helping ensure effective debt collection and credit control processes.
- Provide leadership and day-to-day guidance to Accounts Officers, acting as a key point of reference for accounts receivable and debt collection activities
- Oversee and support debt collection processes, ensuring outstanding debts are recovered within agreed credit terms
- Monitor overdue accounts, investigate discrepancies, and assist with complex customer account queries and escalations
- Support month-end processes and reporting, including reconciliations, debtor ageing analysis, and financial data accuracy
- Contribute to process improvements, system accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Accounts Receivable function
About you
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Accounts Receivable, credit control, or debt collection, ideally in a high-volume environment
- Certificate IV in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar
- Proven ability to guide, mentor, or support junior staff, with strong leadership and collaboration skills
- Strong understanding of credit management, debtor recovery, and accounts reconciliation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage sensitive customer conversations professionally
- Intermediate Excel and financial system experience (Greentree experience highly regarded)
