The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join their growing team. In this position, you will manage financial operations, prepare reporting and compliance deliverables, and provide strategic financial support across a portfolio of startup and scale-up clients, investment funds, and complex business structures.
This role offers a unique blend of technical accounting, operational finance, and advisory exposure, making it well suited to someone who enjoys working closely with innovative businesses and sophisticated investors.
Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting & Operations

  • Oversee end-to-end month-end close processes, including journals, accruals, and intercompany transactions
  • Review and support payroll processing, employee entitlements, and Single Touch Payroll obligations
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Perform reconciliations across balance sheets, bank accounts, loans, credit cards, and investments
  • Assist with budgeting, cash flow forecasting, management reporting, and board reporting packs
Tax & Compliance
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, PAYG, payroll tax, and other statutory obligations
  • Support year-end reporting, tax submissions, and audit processes
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisers
  • Assist with tax planning activities and management of provisional tax liabilities
Investment Accounting & Administration
  • Support fund accounting activities including NAV calculations, LP reporting, capital accounts, and distributions
  • Produce investor reporting and assist with liquidity management and audit preparation
  • Maintain investment registers and monitor valuations and performance using Xero and fund administration platforms
  • Assist clients with regulatory and compliance obligations
Client & Team Management
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and regular check-ins
  • Manage client deliverables to ensure exceptional service standards
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
About You

You are commercially minded, highly organised, and confident working directly with clients. You combine strong technical accounting capabilities with excellent communication skills and enjoy operating across both compliance and advisory-focused work.
Desired Skills & Experience

  • CPA or CA qualified (or nearing completion)
  • 3–5+ years’ accounting experience with exposure to BAS/IAS and compliance requirements
  • Strong stakeholder and client relationship management skills
  • Experience working with startups, scaleups, investment funds, or complex entity structures
  • Solid understanding of IFRS and accounting standards
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong Xero experience
  • High attention to detail with strong professional integrity and discretion
  • Confidence engaging with founders, senior stakeholders, and external advisers
