About the Role

Join the Weatherbeeta Group (well reputed global equestrian, outdoor products business) as a Commercial Business Partner/Management Accountant, a key role in driving financial performance, supporting strategic decision-making, and partnering with leaders to deliver business objectives.

Bring your sound technical accounting expertise, commercial acumen, ability to influence stakeholders with your business smarts. Reporting to the Group CFO/COO and working within a fast-paced finance team, you will perform a critical role in the business.

This is a combined strategic & operational / hands on role driving strong financial performance, optimising commercial decisions, and supporting leadership with actionable insights. It requires analytical rigor with sound technical accounting/finance skills - to influence pricing, promotions, inventory planning, and profitability across Retail channels.

Financial Reporting & Management Accounting

  • Prepare accurate/timely monthly management accounts

  • Deliver variance analysis (budget vs. actuals) with clear commentary and actionable insights

  • Produce detailed P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash flow forecasts

  • Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes

  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls

  • Lead demand forecasting and long-range financial planning for key product categories and channels

  • Produce regular commercial performance reports and summaries for senior leadership

  • Design and maintain dashboards/KPIs that track profitability, margin trends, promotional effectiveness, and sales performance

  • Drive improvements in reporting automation and data accuracy

  • Oversee and assist with month end financial reporting

Business Partnering

  • Partner with department heads to understand performance drivers and cost structures (Merchandising, Category Management, Pricing, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Store Operations)

  • Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis to support business decisions

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve profitability and efficiency

  • Translate complex financial data and findings into clear, non-financial reports for operation teams, and commercial insights that drive business decisions by Executive team

  • Support commercial negotiation strategy with financial justification and risk assessment

  • Influence stakeholders with clear recommendations and scenario outcomes for growth

Commercial Analysis

  • Conduct pricing, and cost-benefit analysis and recommendations (price elasticity and competitive benchmarking)

  • Conduct analysis of revenue, gross margin, product/category profitability, and customer segments

  • Evaluate promotional tactics and deep-discount scenarios for profitability impact

  • Support margin optimisation initiatives through data-driven trade-offs

  • Identify risks and opportunities to improve financial performance

  • Support investment appraisals and capital expenditure reviews

  • Monitor KPIs and recommend corrective actions where necessary

  • Build and maintain financial models to assess pricing, markdown strategies, promotional ROI, and assortment decisions

  • Analys sales trends, inventory velocity, sell-through rates, and margin impacts across channels

  • Perform variance analysis (budget vs. forecast vs. actuals) and identify key drivers of performance

Process Improvement & Controls

  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting systems

  • Strengthen and ensure compliance with financial controls, governance standards

  • Identify and implement streamlined analytics workflows and finance processes

  • Contribute to IT system enhancements (ERP, BI, forecasting tools, other) to elevate data quality and insight delivery

Audit & Compliance

  • Assist with year-end audit and statutory reporting requirements, providing documentation/support to external auditors, ensuring financial statements are accurate and comply with statutory requirements

  • Ensure accurate tax and regulatory submissions where applicable

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree Qualified Accountant (CA, CPA or equivalent)

  • Experienced management accounting and commercial finance professional preferably in retail business

  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills

  • Advanced Excel skills; Bower PI; experience with ERP systems preferred

  • Strong business partnering and stakeholder influence capabilities

  • Clear communication and can present insights clearly to senior leaders

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced business

  • Commercial and strategic mindset with the ability to connect analytics to business priorities

  • Advanced problem-solving skills and attention to detail, accuracy

  • Project management skills desirable

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business and CA or CPA qualified

  • 7+ years of commercial finance, retail analytics, or FP&A experience preferably in retail or FMCG

  • Strong financial modelling, forecasting, and analytical skills

  • Proficiency with Excel and relational databases; experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)

  • Mandatory Power BI experience is essential for this role

  • Familiarity with retail systems (POS data, merchandising/planning tools, demand forecasting platforms)

  • Advanced proficiency in retail systems including POS data management, merchandising planning tools, and demand forecasting platforms is required
