About the Role

Reporting to the Finance & Risk Manager, our Financial Analyst / Management Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of the school’s regular financial, performance and operational reports, supporting analysis and the annual budget to assist with and enhance the school Council and senior leadership’s decision making.

This is a full-time, fixed term replacement position commencing September 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Assist the Finance Manager with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting

  • Assist the Finance Manager perform accounting functions associated with the generation of financial statements, management reporting, reconciliations, and other related accounting tasks to accurately account for all the financial transactions of the College

  • Assist in the preparation of information for the annual external financial audit

  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of submissions, statutory and other compliance requirements of the College

  • Be responsible for KPI reporting and providing insightful analysis

  • Develop and manage budget and activity forecasting

  • Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of the College’s budget and implement effective mechanisms for ongoing review to ensure departmental and heads of department remain within established budgets.

  • Generate and distribute departmental financial, performance & operational reporting

  • Provide the Senior Leadership Team with analytical, financial and non-financial data reporting support as required

  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership Team and School Council to enhance performance reporting

  • Assist with the optimisation of the Finance reporting process through software integration and management

  • Maintain and develop key financial / non-financial performance management models, reporting templates and analytical tools

  • Maintain and develop appropriate documentation of key financial / non-financial performance management models, reporting templates and analytical tools

  •  Assist the Finance Department as required

  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis as requested

Role Requirements

  • Essential Accounting / Finance Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years in a similar role

  • Commercial experience with generating financial and operational reporting

  • Strong critical and analytical thinker, with the ability to build out reports and commentary that is easily digested by a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Effective communications skills

  • Ability to meet strict deadlines

  • Accuracy and attention to detail particularly when producing financial reports

  • Ability to interpret data to create useful information

  • Experience managing budget process, including forecasting

  • Experience in financial modelling

  • Advanced skills in Excel and other analytical software tools

  • Previous experience in the independent school sector desirable

  • CA/CPA qualifications desirable
