Recruiting Assistant Accountant:

The successful candidate will commence as soon as possible.  Appropriate reference and background checks will be undertaken for shortlisted applicants.

The applicant must be enthusiastic and passionate and demonstrate a genuine care for young people. The successful applicant will possess the relevant qualifications for the position and must have a Working With Children’s Check upon commencement. 

Key selection criteria & qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills

  • Intermediate computer software skills, including Excel and other financial accounting packages

  • Previous Accounting/bookkeeping/payroll experience 

  • High level of administration skills and experience

  • Willingness to learn 

  • Highly reliable and loyal

  • Able to start at 8:30 am, Monday - Friday

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident only

Job Responsibilities

Administration

  • Answer phone calls and provide accurate information to parents about fees and other enquiries

  • Manage payment from parents

  • Maintain student database

  • Extract and prepare data relating to student attendance, student disabilities and staff for the annual census

  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as delegated

Accounts/Payroll 

  • Assist Finance Department in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

  • Assist Finance Department to manage transactions and correspondence with Parents, Suppliers, Contractors, Bankers and other authorities as delegated

  • Assist Finance Department in posting general ledger transactions in accounting software

  • Assist with monthly banking duties and reconciliations as required

  • Assist with generating ELC/school fee invoices and collection of overdue ELC/school fees

  • Maintain complete Child Care Subsidy (CCS) record for ELC and provide update on weekly basis 

  • Assist with any payroll matters and respond to staff leave and other queries

  • Assist with preparation and lodgement of superannuation report

  • Assist with preparation and lodgement of Business Activity Statement (BAS)

  • Assist with month end and financial year end job duties

  • Assist with preparation of annual budget, audit and financial reporting 

  • Assist the Business Manager as directed from time to time on various projects

  • Report to the Senior Accountant and Business Manager with respect to the above duties

  • Other general tasks/reporting as directed by the Senior Accountant and Business Manager
