Job Description
Our esteemed client, Green Upgrades, provides end-to-end sustainability solutions aimed at helping households and businesses reduce electricity costs and carbon emissions. Located at Truganina, Victoria, they operate in the consumer energy services sector, focused on delivering residential and commercial energy efficiency upgrades. The company is currently seeking an Accountant to support their growing operations, particularly in areas such as rebate and incentive accounting, project cost tracking, payroll, compliance reporting, and general financial management within a government-regulated energy services environment.
As an Accountant, you will be primarily responsible for the timely preparation of all the monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports for management, filing tax returns and meeting the statutory requirements for the business. The offered annual salary for this full-time role is $95,000 to $110,000 plus superannuation. The Responsibilities:
- Preparing year-end and quarter-end financial reports (like Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement, etc.).
- Preparing
Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns for the business.
- Preparing all the reports to analyse the growth of the company through sales, receivables, payables, inventory, etc. and presenting them to the senior management of the company.
- Posting superannuation monthly, along with allocation of profit centres.
- Doing year-end closing procedures.
- Preparing budgets with revenue forecasts and expenses at the start of the financial year.
- Preparing year-end taxation returns.
- Making sure that the account statements are prepared as per the statutory requirements.
- Preparing quarter-end tax and financial reports and reporting for any undue increase/decrease in payments.
- Maintaining and updating company information with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC).
- Coordinating with the Director and field staff to control business operating costs to increase the efficiency and profit of the firm.
- Fixing asset management and yearly stocktake.
- Maintaining proper backup files for research and reference.
- Maintaining financial security by following proper internal controls.
- Ensuring that the business is compliant with all the current accounting standards.
- Examining the proficiency of accounting software used to organise data and replacing it with updated software if required.
Qualifications:
- Must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university.
- Should have a demonstrated commercial acumen to understand the dynamics of a complex, evolving industry.
- Should have three (3) years of relevant experience with particular attention to detail.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Must have experience working with the Xero Accounting and QuickBooks software systems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, Managers, and subject matter experts.
- Detail-oriented, ability to multitask, work independently, and prioritise tasks.
- Proven track record of increased responsibilities and scope.
- Ability to independently resolve complex problems where analysis requires the in-depth evaluation of numerous factors.
- Ability to self-manage and execute in an unstructured environment.
- Ability to organise, plan, and manage, together with the capacity to prioritise for self and coordinate input from others to deliver timely results.
- Demonstrated experience in complex, integrated, and computerised accounting systems.
- Demonstrated ability to methodically analyse sets of data.
