The firm emphasizes collaboration and continuous improvement to provide reliable, high-quality service.Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Assistant Accountant role based in Cranbourne, VIC. The Assistant Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations, including data entry, processing invoices, reconciling bank accounts, and maintaining accurate general ledger records. The role will assist with preparing BAS and other compliance documentation, generating standard financial reports, and supporting end-of-month processes. The Assistant Accountant will help manage accounts payable and receivable, follow up on outstanding payments, and respond to basic client queries in a professional manner. The role also includes filing and document management, assisting senior accountants with ad hoc tasks, and using accounting software and spreadsheets to ensure records are up to date and compliant with relevant standards.Qualifications Foundational accounting knowledge, with an understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, general ledger principles, and basic financial statements.Experience with accounting or bookkeeping software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, or similar) and proficient use of Microsoft Excel and other office applications.Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to maintain organized financial records and documentation.Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with team members and clients.Good time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a part-time schedule.Ability to work collaboratively on-site, take direction from senior accountants, and show initiative in resolving routine issues.Current or completed studies in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (TAFE or university) are highly regarded.Previous experience in an accounting practice or bookkeeping environment is an advantage but not mandatory for applicants with strong potential. We will support the right candidate in gaining TPB-approved experience towards becoming a Tax Agent or Accountant. Bonuses and commissions available on top of salary.
