Head of Sales
National Leadership Role | Melbourne-Based | Supply Chain Consultancy

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity with a well-known, reputable and innovative Australian supply chain consultancy business — a specialist firm that sits at the intersection of technology, carrier relationships, and end-to-end supply chain solutions. Operating nationally, they've built a strong book of enterprise and mid-market clients and are now investing in the capability needed to take their Sales and Account Management function to the next level.

The business is commercially sharp, operationally focused, and led by a hands-on executive team that backs its people. This is not a maintenance role. It's a platform to lead, build, and leave a mark.

The Role
Reporting directly to the executive leadership team, you'll take ownership of a national account management team and be responsible for the performance, retention, and profitable growth of the existing customer portfolio.
You'll inherit a team with real capability and a client base worth developing further. Your role is to lift both: tighten the commercial discipline, sharpen the engagement model, and build a high-performance function that operates proactively rather than reactively.

Day to day, that means:

  • Leading, coaching, and holding a national sales and AM team accountable to commercial and service outcomes
  • Owning portfolio revenue, margin, retention, and growth — with clear visibility on what's working and what isn't
  • Driving a consistent, structured engagement model across QBRs, account reviews, and customer visits
  • Identifying leakage, upsell opportunities, and renewal risks before they become problems
  • Acting as the senior escalation point on complex customer issues and driving cross-functional resolution
  • Collaborating closely with BDM leadership and operational teams to drive sales growth across both new and existing customer bases
The Opportunity for you
  • Highly competitive base salary + vehicle allowance + performance bonus/incentives
  • Direct line to the executive leadership team with real influence on business direction
  • A team to develop, a portfolio to grow, and the autonomy to do both
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • A business that's growing and wants this function to lead from the front
Who We're Looking For
You will be a proven commercial sales and customer development leader who has the capability to inspire a diverse group of account managers.
You'll align well if you are:
  • Commercially astute — you think in margin, not just relationship health
  • A natural coach who builds accountability without losing the team
  • Structured and disciplined in how you manage cadence, reporting, and follow-through
  • High EQ with the presence to lead difficult conversations at senior levels
  • A connector who can collaborate across functions and influence without authority
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of navigating complexity without losing momentum
  • Driven by outcomes — yours, your team's, and your customers'
Experience in transport, freight, logistics, or supply chain is highly regarded. If you've operated in or around carrier networks, customer freight profiles, or managed accounts in a 3PL or freight management context — that's a genuine advantage. Some prior exposure to team leadership is essential.

If this sounds like the step you've been building toward, we'd like to hear from you.
