Finance Manager (Part-Time: 4-5 Days per Week)

Urban College is seeking an experienced and organised Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations of our growing college community.

This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in supporting the College’s leadership team while ensuring strong financial governance, compliance, and reporting.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Principal, the Finance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the College.

This role manages payroll, reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, asset management, and financial compliance. The position works closely with the leadership team to ensure financial accuracy and sustainability across the College.

This is a part-time position (4-5 days a week depending on the right candidate) based at our Croydon campus but may be required across all campus (Boronia, Scoresby, Croydon and coming soon, Healesville)

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage payroll processes including superannuation, PAYG, and leave management

  • Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with strategic financial planning

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor financial performance

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable

  • Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations

  • Maintain the College asset register

  • Prepare BAS and IAS documentation (lodgement may be managed externally)

  • Coordinate financial acquittals, audits, and compliance requirements

  • Manage financial systems including Xero and Hubdoc

  • Support financial processes related to school events and programs

About You

The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident managing financial processes within a medium organisation or school environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or Diploma of Accounting (highly desirable)

  • Experience in payroll processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting

  • Experience using accounting systems such as Xero and Hubdoc

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial staff

  • Experience in the education or not-for-profit sector (desirable)
