The Opportunity
We have exciting opportunity for an experienced Compliance Manager/Compliance Officer to join our team in Melbourne. You will assist with the further development, implementation, and management of the MasterRemit compliance framework. In this position:
You will be actively involved in conducting the required testing, reviewing and monitoring of our compliance framework as well as assessing regulatory change impacts and supporting implementation.
You will also be involved identifying and supporting potential control uplifts to ensure obligations are met,
You will assist with the preparation for applicable reviews/audits/inspection. Assist with coordinating responses to regulatory enquiries and
You’ll also be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, managing compliance registers, implementing risk management practices, and facilitating audits. You will have a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Your Key Responsibilities
Program Management: Develop, manage, and document the local risk management and compliance program.
Risk Mitigation: Work closely with the Group FinCrime function, Operations Team, and senior managers to identify, assess, and mitigate regulatory compliance risks.
Policy Development: Develop and implement financial crime policies, procedures, key risk indicators, and risk appetite statements.
Onboarding & AML Standards: Determine identification and verification standards for customer take-on and AML compliance.
Suspicious Activity Reporting: Manage internal and external suspicious activity reporting processes and escalate reports to regulators and law enforcement in a timely manner.
Training & Communication: Communicate responsibilities to staff and deliver annual compliance training covering AML/CTF, ML/TF risk, and Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC).
Operational Oversight: Oversee local FinCrime products and services, including transaction monitoring, court orders, and quality assurance activities.
Business Support: Support the launch of new features and products to ensure regulatory requirements are met and coordinate necessary license updates.
Collaboration: Work with the Operations Team to optimize the customer onboarding process while managing risk within acceptable levels.
Program Maintenance: Implement and maintain the AML/CTF Program (Part A and Part B) across all MasterRemit processes.
Escalations & Investigations: Handle compliance escalations, including Customer KYC/EDD, and conduct investigations into unusual or questionable transactions.
Reporting & Compliance Audits: Conduct internal health checks to assess the effectiveness of the AML framework and assist in the preparation of Board reporting.
Regulatory Expansion: Support applications for regulatory and financial licenses in new jurisdictions and coordinate all reporting obligations under AUSTRAC and the DIA.
Partner Management: Serve as the primary compliance contact for partner onboarding, due diligence, and ongoing check-ins.
Legislative Monitoring: Proactively monitor changes in legislation (e.g., new AUSTRAC guidance or Treasury reforms) and perform gap analyses to assess the impact on operations.
About You
You are based in Melbourne and possess over 5 years of AML/CTF compliance experience, ideally within the remittance sector of the payments and financial services industry.
You have a solid understanding of regulatory compliance within the Australian Financial Services sector and demonstrated expertise in Australian AML and financial crime typologies, including investigation handling.
Your knowledge extends to applicable financial services obligations, and you are skilled at communicating effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to effectively communicate to internal and external stakeholders.
With strong analytical and critical thinking skills, you are highly adaptable to change and demonstrate excellent organizational abilities, allowing you to prioritize work efficiently.
Holding a professional qualification in CAMS is a distinct advantage.
