An exciting opportunity has become available within the Finance team at FMH Group for an experienced Finance Manager to join us on a 15-month Maternity Leave contract. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this role is a key leadership position within the FMH shared services function and has the remit of the efm and CouriersPlease businesses.  

About the Role 

The Finance Manager will lead financial operations, compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives, while partnering with senior stakeholders to support performance and drive business growth. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Lead the finance function to support business growth, ensuring strong financial structures, controls, systems and governance are in place across the business. 

  • Oversee financial operations including statutory compliance, cashflow, month-end and year-end processes, financial reporting, and the integrity of the general ledger, reconciliations, and consolidation activities. 

  • Deliver financial analysis, insights and commentary to senior stakeholders, while supporting budgeting, forecasting and broader business performance initiatives. 

  • Drive continuous improvement across finance processes and partner with shared services teams and business leaders to enhance efficiency, collaboration and overall finance capability. 

  • Lead, coach and mentor a small finance team, while providing trusted financial support, advice and ad hoc analysis to the Group Financial Controller, Group CFO and wider business as required. 

About You 

To be successful in this role, you will be a capable and commercially minded finance professional with strong technical expertise, leadership capability and the confidence to partner effectively across the business. 

You will bring: 

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience across accounting and finance roles, ideally with exposure to a Big 4 environment and/or a large corporate financial reporting or technical accounting function. 

  • Strong commercial and analytical capability, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends and provide insights that support business performance and decision-making. 

  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to develop teams, build strong stakeholder relationships and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture. 

  • Strong business partnering experience, with the ability to build credibility, influence senior stakeholders and provide trusted financial information across the business. 

  • Demonstrated experience driving change and continuous improvement across finance processes, systems, and ways of working, including transformation or system enhancement initiatives. 

  • Highly developed attention to detail, advanced Excel capability, and exposure to ERP integration within complex or multi-entity environments will be highly regarded.
