Position summary

The Compliance & HR Manager play a key role in supporting the employee lifecycle, fostering a positive workplace culture, while ensuring organisational compliance. Working under the direction of the Head of People & Culture, the role is responsible for delivering core HR and compliance functions. 

The HR focus includes policy development, employment contracts, recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, leave and salary administration and workforce reporting. Using Employment Hero, the role supports efficient HR processes, maintains accurate employee records, and provides insights to support informed people decisions.

Compliance management is focused on leading and overseeing the organisation's compliance framework across real estate operations, ensuring adherence to legislative, regulatory, and company requirements. This role manages compliance risk, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing obligations, sales documentation governance, training, and continuous improvement initiatives to protect the business, support operational excellence, and foster a culture of compliance and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Management

  • Lead the ongoing effectiveness and maintenance of the organisation's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF) compliance framework.

  • Act as the designated AML Compliance Officer and primary point of contact for AUSTRAC,

  • Implement, maintain, and optimise compliance systems, technology platforms, and software solutions to support AML/CTF obligations and risk management activities.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance and business risks.

  • Conduct internal compliance reviews, audits, and assurance testing.

  • Develop and deliver compliance training and educational programs.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and ensure business readiness.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen governance and compliance practices.

 Human Resources Management

  • Assist with the development and maintaining of the HR policies and procedures.

  • Prepare and manage employment contracts and employee documentation.

  • Coordinate recruitment activities, including candidate screening and interviews.

  • Assist in managing employee onboarding and offboarding processes.

  • Co Ordinate salary updates, contract changes, leave management, and employee records.

  • Maintain and optimise HR systems, including Employment Hero.

  • Generate HR reports and analytics to support business decision-making.

  • Provide training and support to managers and employees on the HR system usage and digital HR workflows.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in both human resources and compliance, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of human resources practices, employment law, recruitment, employee relations, and policy development.

  • Sound knowledge of regulatory compliance, AML/CTF requirements, risk management, internal audits, and assurance testing.

  • Exceptional communication and relationship management skills with the ability to influence and advise stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and digital workflow systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and integrity.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement and best-practice outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Compliance, Risk Management, Law, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience in policy development, employment contract administration, and recruitment.

  • Experience using HR systems and producing workforce analytics and reporting.

  • Proven experience in a compliance, risk, or regulatory role within the real estate industry or a related sector.

  • Working knowledge of AML/CTF obligations and relevant real estate legislation.

  • Experience conducting audits and delivering compliance training programs.

  • Strong client relationship management experience.

  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
