At Wettenhalls, we know that transport is one of Australia’s most safety-critical and compliance-intensive industries. We operate in an environment defined by distance, complexity, and responsibility—where the margin for error is zero and the consequences of getting safety wrong are irreversible.
That’s why we’re looking for more than a Safety & Compliance Manager.
We’re looking for a progressive, resilient leader who is ready to influence how safety is truly lived across our business.
This is not a desk-bound role.
This is a leadership position embedded within the operation—working shoulder-to-shoulder with drivers, operations, support functions, leadership teams, and customers to make safety real, practical, and meaningful every single day.
The Opportunity
As our Safety & Compliance Manager, you will lead a team of Safety Business Partners and take accountability for embedding a durable, people-centred safety culture across a geographically dispersed transport operation.
You will shape how people think, act, and lead on safety—not through enforcement alone, but through credibility, presence, influence, and trust.
What Sets You Apart
You bring the core safety and compliance capability—that’s a given.
But what truly differentiates you is your ability to lead change and bring people with you.
You are someone who:
Thrives as a safety change agent, not just a policy owner
Builds genuine partnerships across operations and leadership
Is naturally curious and inquisitive, asking the questions others don’t
Looks beyond the surface, using data and insight to drive decisions
Leads proactively—shifting the focus from reactive incident response to forward-looking risk identification, prevention, and continuous improvement initiatives
Helps the business see what’s possible, not just what’s required
Champions a business partnering model for safety
Demonstrates energy, resilience, and drive, even in complex environment
What You’ll Bring
Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and regulatory frameworks
Experience in transport safety and compliance environment will be highly regarded
Certificate IV WHS or equivalent
Experience working within or alongside WorkSafe authorities
Exposure to or understanding of:
National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR)
Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL)
Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations
But above all, your success will come from your ability to lead safety culture—bringing people on the journey not because they are told to, but because they understand why it matters.
Why Wettenhalls?
This is an opportunity to step into a role where you can genuinely influence outcomes—for our people, our customers, and the communities we operate in.
You’ll be part of a business that values practical safety, strong relationships, and continuous improvement, and where your leadership will make a visible difference.
