About the role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this senior leadership role offers genuine influence across the business.
You will provide the commercial counsel needed to support the company's next phase of growth, identifying opportunities to grow revenue, improve profitability and build the frameworks and systems infrastructure the business needs to scale.
With a small, capable finance team managing day-to-day operations, you will provide oversight of the finance function while focusing on operational performance and planning as well as process improvement and change initiatives.
Key responsibilities
Managing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and commercial modelling to support strategic business decision-making
Managing pricing governance, margin analysis, supplier pricing, freight costs, rebates and trading terms
Building scalable dashboards, reporting tools and integrated workflows to reduce manual processes and improve executive visibility
Partnering with the Operations Manager and Sales teams on cost management, inventory efficiency and operational performance
Overseeing financial governance, controls, compliance and relationships with external advisors, auditors and banks
Driving efficiencies and best practice across Sage, with a focus on workflow automation, system optimisation and reducing manual processes
Identifying and implementing AI-driven tools and initiatives to improve reporting, visibility and efficiencies
Leading the finance team with a focus on continuous improvement and supporting the growth and development of team capability
About you
You are a pragmatic and commercially minded finance leader who thrives in a small business environment and enjoys contributing across the whole organisation. You will bring:
CPA or CA qualified with solid experience in manufacturing, wholesale, distribution or a comparable operational environment
Proven ability to lead business transformation, systems implementation and process improvement
Strong commercial acumen with experience in pricing strategy, margin management and operational performance
Capable financial modeller with the ability to translate analysis into clear business recommendations
Confidence working with ERP systems, automation tools and emerging AI technologies
A collaborative, pragmatic leadership style with the ability to operate strategically
