Finance Manager – Cable & Electrical Industry

Helu Australia are seeking a motivated Finance Manager to join our Corporate Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced financial controller wanting to take their next career step or a finance manager looking for that next challenge.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Services, you will take the lead role in all aspects of the finance function including managing the existing finance team members, general accounting, treasury, tax, insurance and using your professional acumen to partner with and support the broader business.
This hands-on role will suit someone with broad finance and accounting experience in a corporate environment, strong attention to detail, and always looking for opportunities to improve and add value.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Month-End: Manage the month-end process, general ledger reconciliations, and the production of Profit & Loss and balance sheet statements, including submission of financial data to the global head office.
Performance Insights: Provide detailed financial analysis, variance reporting, and commentary on business performance against budgets and/or prior year.
Forecasting: Prepare forecasts to support decision-making and cash flow management.
Budgeting & Strategic Planning
Budget Creation: Manage the annual operating and capital expenditure budgeting process in consultation with the management team.
Business Partnering: Support the business in in a variety of business improvement projects and performance analysis.
Compliance & Risk Management
Statutory Compliance: Ensure all reporting aligns with the Australian Accounting Standards and reported in a timely manner.
Taxation: Oversee the preparation and submission of returns including the Business Activity Statement (BAS), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and Company Tax.
Audit & Controls: Manage the annual statutory audit process, liaise with external auditors, and deploy internal controls to minimise financial risks.
Insurance: Liaise with insurance providers for annual renewals and any other matters as necessary.
Team Leadership & Operations
Team Management: Supervise and mentor accounting teams, currently including accounts payable, and accounts receivable team members.
Systems Optimization: Support the business in optimising the use of its financial software and systems to drive efficiency and process improvement.
What You'll Bring
10+ years of relevant experience in finance roles, including 5+ of those being in a senior role.
Direct experience in preparing tax calculations for BAS, FBT and company tax.
Proficiency in Excel and general data management tools.
Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
Professional qualification essential (CA or CPA)
Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position.
