We are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated HSE Advisor who is looking for the opportunity to apply their knowledge in developing and maintaining our internal health, safety, environmental and compliance frameworks.
Reporting directly to the Senior Logistics Manager, you will advise on and implement health, safety, environmental and regulatory compliance strategies both strategically and operationally across our national business.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Closely engage with our employees and management team to ensure a continued proactive and committed approach to health and safety across our national operation.
• Promote a positive HSE culture through effective communication, coaching and demonstrated behaviours.
• Review, develop, implement and maintain effective risk management and control systems including H&S Manuals, Policies and Procedures, Workers Compensation, Return to Work, Transport Safety Management Systems, Drug and Alcohol Programs, and other compliance frameworks.
• Support and monitor compliance with relevant transport legislation and regulatory requirements, including National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) obligations, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements and Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).
• Undertake investigations of workplace incidents, injuries and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to improve safety outcomes.
• Conduct internal audits, inspections and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to legislative and company requirements.
• Process and analyse statistics and data to provide functional HSE and compliance advice to local and senior management.
• Ensure team members understand their responsibilities through ongoing training, communication, inductions and audits.
• Keep up to date with all relevant legislation, regulatory and industry requirements relating to health, safety, environment and transport compliance.
Required skills and attributes:
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
• Demonstrated understanding of relevant WHS legislation and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of NHVR regulations, Chain of Responsibility obligations and Heavy Vehicle National Law is highly desirable.
• Ability to influence and drive change through relevant HSE initiatives and programs.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience within the transport, logistics or heavy vehicle industry will be highly regarded.
• Strong investigation, auditing and risk management skills.
• This role will involve some travel, as such an Australian Drivers Licence is required.
