Chisholm is seeking an experienced Careers Counsellor to join our Skills and Jobs Centre. Full time, fixed term position on offer.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is accountable for providing career entry and transition advice, as well as job search and training advice to people who are looking to return to the workforce after redundancy, job loss and carer responsibilities and career breaks.  

This role will focus on providing a confidential, professional and contemporary advice on sustainable industries, emerging careers and training linked to these opportunities on both a one-on-one basis and leading facilitated workshops.   

The incumbent is a key and active participant of the Skills and Jobs Centre (SJC) team and provides expertise to the team on current recruitment and careers practice.

As a Careers Counsellor, your key responsibilities include:

  • Provide timely responses to all client/job seeker enquiries, delegated tasks and requests for support.
  • Provide career entry and transition advice to enable people returning to the workforce to make informed decisions regarding career opportunities and training
  • Provide support and advice regarding training and educational options to enable students who may be entering the job market for the first time or seeking a career change to understand the options available
  • Maintain timely and accurate case notes in FastTrack to requirements of the Skills and Job Centre procedures and professional standards and Chisholm protocols.
  • Escalate matters of concern likely to grow in risk, complexity or where additional expertise is required.

ABOUT YOU

You are a highly motivated individual with-

  • Deep understanding of contemporary careers practice
  • High level of knowledge regarding current industry recruitment practices
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal significant career counselling experience in in an industry environment

Qualifications required for the role:

  • A relevant qualification in Career Development or similar discipline or recognition of experience in career practice
