Defined Community Care is a leading disability service provider committed to empowering people with disabilities to achieve their goals and actively participate in their communities. We are expanding our team to support NDIS participants, and we’re looking for a passionate and experienced Disability Support Worker to join us in making a difference.

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Disability Support Worker to support NDIS participants in Sunshine with complex behaviours, including those with autism, intellectual disabilities, and high physical support needs. This role is ideal for someone with a person-centred approach, who is excited to provide support in a meaningful way.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Providing assistance with daily living, personal care, manual handling, and community access
  • Supporting and managing behaviours of concern and implementing behaviour support plans
  • Ensuring participants' safety, comfort, and well-being while assisting with transportation and companionship
  • Promoting independence and social participation within the community
  • Clear concise documentation to inform support planning

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Certificate III in Disability or Individual Support (minimum)
  • Experience working with children, autism, and complex behaviours is a must
  • Background in disability, mental health, aged care, youth work, or community services
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to form professional relationships with participants and families
  • Flexibility to work a 24/7 roster, including overnight shifts
  • First Aid, CPR, Manual Handling, and Medication Administration training (or willingness to obtain)
  • Clear attention to detail and accurate record management

Desirable

  • Experience with autism and intellectual disabilities is highly advantageous
  • Experience working with individuals affected by drug and alcohol issues

Mandatory Requirements

  • NDIS clearance card
  • Working with Children Check
  • Current unrestricted driving license
  • NDIS Worker Orientation certificate
