About Kosmovision Foundation

Kosmovision Foundation is a health promotion charity using creativity as a pathway for wellbeing, participation, belonging and self-expression. We work with young people and community members through creative arts, storytelling, visual arts and inclusive creative programs.

We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Creative Arts Facilitator to support a small community-based creative group for participants with disability and diverse communication needs in the Boroondara area.

About the Role

We are looking for a facilitator with experience working with people with disability, including participants who are non-speaking or have limited verbal communication and may use AAC devices or other supported communication methods.

The facilitator will plan and deliver accessible creative sessions using visual arts, storytelling, sensory-friendly activities, supported choice-making, creative prompts and inclusive group processes.

This role would suit someone with experience in disability support, community arts, art therapy, creative facilitation, youth work, inclusive education, occupational therapy-informed practice or a related field.

The group requires a calm, flexible and inclusive approach. Participants may communicate through AAC devices, gesture, eye gaze, pointing, movement, sound, image-making, body language or supported choice-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate inclusive creative sessions for participants with disability.

  • Support participants to engage through different forms of communication, including AAC devices, gesture, eye gaze, pointing, movement, sound, image-making or supported choice-making.

  • Adapt creative activities so participants can engage at their own pace and in their own way.

  • Create a safe, respectful, sensory-aware and neurodiversity-affirming environment.

  • Support participants to explore life skills and personal development themes, including choice-making, communication, confidence, emotional expression, relationships, daily routines, interests and belonging.

  • Facilitate creative expression through visual arts, storytelling, collage, drawing, painting, clay, sensory materials and other accessible creative approaches.

  • Work collaboratively with Kosmovision staff, support workers, families or carers where appropriate.

  • Maintain clear boundaries, duty of care and trauma-informed practice.

  • Provide brief feedback or reflections after sessions where required.

  • Assist with preparation, set-up and pack-down of creative materials.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience facilitating creative, community or arts-based programs.

  • Experience working with people with disability and/or neurodivergent participants.

  • Experience supporting people with diverse communication needs, including non-speaking participants and/or AAC users.

  • Understanding of inclusive, trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming practice.

  • Ability to adapt creative activities for different sensory, cognitive, physical and communication needs.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • A calm, patient, flexible and respectful approach.

  • Current Working With Children Check.

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one.

  • Current ABN and ability to invoice for services as a self-employed contractor.

Desirable Qualifications, Training or Experience

  • Experience with AAC devices, visual communication systems or partner-assisted communication.

  • Experience working with young people, emerging adults or community groups.

  • Experience in visual arts, storytelling, collage, clay, painting or sensory creative practices.

  • Relevant qualifications or training in disability support, community arts, art therapy, occupational therapy, education, youth work, social work, counselling or similar.

  • Certificate III or IV in Disability / Individual Support, AAC training, positive behaviour support training or trauma-informed practice training would be highly regarded, but is not essential.

Please send your CV and a short expression of interest outlining:

  • your experience working with people with disability,

  • your approach to inclusive creative facilitation,

  • any experience with non-speaking participants or AAC communication,

  • your availability on Wednesdays,
