We are looking for fun and passionate Allied Health Assistants/Disability Support Workers to work with our teenage and young adult clients in their homes and communities on a casual basis. You will be working with our neurodivergent clients including Autistic young people as well as young people with ADHD, anxiety, Intellectual Disabilities and more. This role is suitable for individuals looking for a couple of extra hours a week of work alongside a current job or studies. Currently, we are looking for someone with availability on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.

Rising Youth Occupational Therapy is a small Occupational Therapy practice that works with youth and young adults to build independence in all areas of life. We are also passionate about fostering a neurodiversity-affirming environment where all individuals are valued for their unique perspectives and differences. We believe in empowering young autistic individuals to embrace their identities, and our ideal candidate will share this passion and will be dedicated to creating supportive spaces that celebrate neurodiversity.

As a Support Worker/ Allied Health Assistant your role may vary from client to client however your responsibilities may include:

  • Transporting a client in the community or assisting them to access public transport

  • Supporting a client to engage in social activities or activities of interest

  • Supporting self-care and domestic tasks in the home such as managing the morning routine and meal preparation

  • Working alongside our OTs and supporting the development of skills as part of their Occupational Therapy plan

As a Support Worker/ Therapy Assistant you must:

  • Studying an allied health course or hold qualifications in allied health assistance

  • Experience supporting Autistic Individuals

  • Current Police Check or willingness to obtain

  • Valid Australian Driver's License and reliable vehicle

  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate or willingness to obtain

  • NDIS Workers Screening Clearance or willingness to obtain

  • You must be fully vaccinated against COVID19

  • A prior awareness of neurodiversity affirming practice is a plus
