As part of our continued business growth and product innovation strategy, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Research and Development Manager to lead the development of new food products, improve production processes, and support the company’s long-term growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the company’s research and development activities relating to food products, recipes, production methods, and operational improvements.
Develop and implement innovation strategies to support product development and business expansion.
Research market trends, customer preferences, ingredients, and emerging food technologies to identify new business opportunities.
Oversee the creation, testing, evaluation, and refinement of new menu items and food products • Improve existing recipes, food quality, consistency, shelf life, and production efficiency.
Coordinate product trials, sensory evaluations, and quality assurance testing.
Work closely with kitchen operations, suppliers, and management teams to ensure successful product development and implementation.
Ensure all products and processes comply with Australian food safety standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
Monitor competitor activities and industry developments to maintain market competitiveness.
Supervise and support research and development staff or external consultants where required.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across production, operations, and customer experience.
Qualifications and Experiences Required
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in research and development, food innovation, product development, or a related management role
Relevant qualification in Food Science, Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, Business, or related discipline preferred
Strong knowledge of food production processes, quality control, and food safety standards
Excellent analytical, organisational, and project management skills
Strong written and verbal English communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Strong leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general reporting systems
Experience within the food manufacturing, hospitality, or restaurant industry will be highly regarded
