OHS Advisor – Essendon Fields
Eight Homes is looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Advisor to champion our safety-first culture. Based at our Essendon Fields office, the role involves regular site visits across metropolitan Melbourne and plays a vital part in strengthening our safety systems, supporting construction, sales and office teams, and keeping ahead of legislative updates.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and legislation.
- Assist with regulatory requests, including those from WorkSafe and other governing bodies.
- Maintain safety documentation, registers and incident records accurate and up to date.
- Collaborate closely with the construction team to promote a strong safety culture.
- Champion a strong understanding of the OH&S Act and regulations, keeping our practices compliant and forward-thinking.
- Identify training needs and oversee annual OH&S programs that empower teams to work safely and confidently.
- Serve as the go-to advisor for managers and employees, offering timely, practical guidance on all OH&S matters.
- Lead incident investigations, ensuring timely follow-up actions and continuous improvement.
- Support injured employees through their return-to-work journey, working closely with managers, insurers and medical providers.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a safety-focused role, ideally within construction or another high-risk industry.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to engage a wide range of stakeholders and build rapport across teams.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities independently.
- Willingness to travel to various site locations across the metropolitan area.
- Demonstrated success in driving a culture of safety, including OH&S induction and training experience.
- Extensive knowledge of OH&S legislation, supporting regulations and codes, and practical application.
- Comprehensive understanding of Workers Compensation and Injury Management regulations.
Required qualifications
- Valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
- Certificate IV or higher in OHS and Building & Construction.
- Police Check.
