About the Role:

The QA Officer is responsible for leading and maintaining the site’s Quality Assurance and Food Safety systems to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, certification standards, and customer expectations.

You will oversee the Quality Management System (QMS), HACCP programs, internal and external audits, testing programs, and non-conformance management, while working closely with production and operational teams to build a strong food safety culture.

This is a hands-on role across both office and production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and maintain the site’s Quality Management System (QMS) and HACCP programs

  • Ensure full compliance with food safety regulations, PrimeSafe requirements, and customer standards

  • Manage and support internal and external audits (PrimeSafe, HACCP, customer audits)

  • Oversee GMP inspections, hygiene inspections, traceability exercises, and pre-operational checks

  • Manage non-conformance investigations, CAPA implementation, and root cause analysis

  • Review and resolve customer complaints and quality issues

  • Oversee microbial testing, environmental monitoring, shelf-life validation, and product specification compliance

  • Maintain supplier approval programs, calibration programs, pest control and testing records

  • Ensure document control, traceability, and accurate QA record keeping

  • Provide food safety and hygiene training to operational teams

  • Collaborate with production, warehouse, procurement, maintenance and management teams to ensure compliance and continuous improvement

  • Prepare QA reports, trend analysis, and compliance documentation for management review

  • Other QA related responsibilities and duties that can differ with new customer requirements or certification


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field (highly regarded)

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in QA within food manufacturing or foodservice environment

  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, QMS and PrimeSafe requirements

  • Experience leading or participating in external audits

  • Strong investigation and root cause analysis skills

  • High attention to detail and strong documentation capability

  • Ability to work both independently and cross-functionally

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Proficiency with QA systems, ERP systems and Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work across chilled and processing environments
