About the role

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Construction Estimator to join our pre-construction team in Melbourne. Reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager, you will take ownership of the estimating function across a variety of commercial, residential and mixed-use projects from early concept through to contract award.

You will work closely with Construction Managers, Architects, Engineers, Surveyors, subcontractors and suppliers and play a key role in the commercial success of our projects.

What you will be doing

•     Prepare detailed cost estimates, pricing schedules and project budgets from concept through to contract award

•     Interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans, specifications and building codes to inform accurate pricing

•     Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs), quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns

•     Calculate project costs including labour, materials, plant, subcontractor and overhead expenses

•     Identify project risks, scope gaps, opportunities and cost saving initiatives

•     Obtain and review subcontractor and supplier quotations

•     Liaise with Construction Managers, Architects and Surveyors to support project planning and programme

•     Conduct site visits and assess construction methodologies and compliance requirements

•     Maintain accurate project documentation, schedules and cost reports throughout the tender process

•     Support handover of awarded projects to the delivery team

What you will bring

•     Minimum 2 year’s experience in construction estimating

•     Demonstrated ability to prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity take-offs

•     Confidence reading and interpreting architectural, structural and engineering documentation

•     High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail

•     Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software such as CostX, Cubit or similar

•     Strong communication skills and the ability to manage subcontractor and supplier relationships

•     Ability to juggle multiple tenders and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment

Desirable

•     Knowledge of contract administration and procurement

•     Experience with CostX, Expert Estimation, Buildsoft or Cubit
