About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Safety Officer to join our team, supporting our operations across Victoria and Tasmania. Based out of our Bayswater site, this role will involve regular travel across the region to coach teams, promote safe work practices, and ensure compliance with Dowell policies and current WHS legislation. Reporting to the Business Manager VIC, you will play a key role in supporting safety initiatives, improving safety performance, and driving a strong, proactive safety culture aligned with our zero-harm commitment.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Ensuring compliance with relevant WHS legislation and Dowell safety policies across VIC and TAS sites
Supporting rehabilitation and return-to-work processes to ensure safe and sustainable outcomes
Engaging with employees and leaders to promote a positive and proactive safety culture
Monitoring and communicating site safety KPIs and performance metrics
Assisting in the development and implementation of continuous improvement safety initiatives
Documenting and maintaining standard operating procedures, including work instructions and visual aids
Conducting safety audits, site inspections, and incident investigations
Identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions
Preparing and submitting monthly safety reports and investigation outcomes
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in a safety-focused role, ideally within construction or manufacturing
Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (preferred but not essential)
Construction White Card
Understanding of WHS legislation and risk management practices
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to coach and support leaders and employees to drive positive safety outcomes
Experience with ICAM or similar incident investigation methodologies (desirable)
