With a strong commitment to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Health & Safety Manager to lead and drive our safety culture across our Broadmeadows operations.
About the RoleReporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for leading the company's Work Health & Safety (WHS) strategy, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, and promoting a proactive safety culture across all three production facilities located in Broadmeadows.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong stakeholder engagement, risk management expertise, and the ability to influence positive safety outcomes across manufacturing, warehousing, maintenance, logistics, and administration teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all health and safety activities across Davies Bakery's three production facilities in Broadmeadows.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company's WHS Management System.
Ensure compliance with all relevant Victorian WHS legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
Manage workplace risk assessments, hazard identification, and risk mitigation programs.
Conduct internal safety audits and coordinate external compliance audits.
Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, trends, and improvement initiatives.
Facilitate Health & Safety Committee meetings and employee consultation processes.
Develop and deliver WHS training, toolbox talks, inductions, and awareness programs.
Partner with managers, supervisors and factory workers to embed safe work practices throughout the business.
Manage workers' compensation claims, injury management, and return-to-work programs.
Lead emergency preparedness and response planning.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce workplace injuries and strengthen the safety culture.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior WHS or Health & Safety leadership role.
Experience within manufacturing, food production, FMCG, or industrial environments.
Formal qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, WHS, or a related discipline.
Strong knowledge of Victorian WHS legislation and compliance requirements.
Demonstrated experience managing multi-site operations.
Experience managing audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and workers' compensation programs.
Excellent communication, coaching, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to influence behavioural and cultural change.
Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving capabilities.
Internal Auditor qualifications (desirable).
Return-to-Work Coordinator certification (desirable).
