Examining plans, drawings and specifications to determine materials and layout requirements. Measuring and marking surfaces to ensure accurate placement of tiles. Preparing wall and floor surfaces by cleaning, levelling, waterproofing and applying underlays where required. Cutting, shaping and trimming ceramic, porcelain, marble, granite and other tiles using hand and power tools. Mixing and applying adhesives, mortar and grout to secure tiles in position. Laying wall and floor tiles in accordance with patterns and design specifications.

Task & responsibilities

Aligning and spacing tiles accurately and checking levels to ensure a high-quality finish.

Grouting joints and cleaning excess materials from tiled surfaces.

Installing decorative features, mosaics and borders where required.

Repairing and replacing damaged or broken tiles and maintaining tiled surfaces.

Applying sealants and waterproofing membranes to prevent moisture penetration.

Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with safety standards, building codes and customer requirements.

Qualification & experience

Minimum Cert IV required
