Latrobe Lifeskills is an NDIS Registered organisation that has been providing support to people with disability since 1998 and is uniquely based at La Trobe University in Bundoora and Bendigo.

Activities and supports include creative, recreational and life skills development, and educational programs through our RTO (TOID20791), both in small groups and on a one-to-one basis.

Who We're Looking For

Self-motivated Disability Support Workers with a genuine interest in supporting adults with disability who possess music and gardening skills. Based in Bundoora, you will work with existing staff to deliver engaging group activities on campus and the community. You may also be required to work one-to-one with Participants.

About the role

Hours are Mondays and Fridays, 9:00am - 3:30pm, with potential for more casual hours during the week as they become available as part of our casual pool of Participant Support Workers.

The role may involve providing group or one-to-one support to Participants, helping build their skills or to participate in group activities.

You will be required to regularly write notes via the client management system (online).

Essential skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication and literacy skills

  • Skills and experience in music and gardening

  • Computer literacy - including Microsoft Office suite

  • A team player

  • Flexible and organised

  • Current Driver's License (manual preferred)

  • Current Level 2 First Aid qualification

  • Valid Working with Children Check

  • Current NDIS Working Screening Check

Desirable skills and attributes:

  • Experience in group disability support

  • Ability to support Participants one-to-one

  • Certificate IV in Disability or equivalent and higher

  • Knowledge of the NDIS

  • Creative skills (Music and Gardening)

  • Sport & recreational skills

  • Computer & digital media skills

  • Gardening skills

Hourly rate is based on the appropriate SCHADS award.
