The Opportunity:

  • Part-Time 0.6 EFT | Ongoing contract of employment.
  • PW3 $60,416 - $65,237 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience).
  • Moorabbin Campus – onsite parking with close proximity to public transport.

The Le Cordon Bleu Department at Holmesglen offers a progressive and innovative teaching environment, with a strong industry partnership with the renowned International Culinary School, Le Cordon Bleu. The department delivers a range of programs from certificate to advanced diploma level qualifications, using state-of-the-art facilities, including demo and polyvalent commercial-grade kitchens and the fully functional Cilantro Restaurant at the Moorabbin campus. Nationally accredited programs across the department include hospitality, cookery, patisserie, and industry-leading short courses designed to provide students with hands-on experience and industry-relevant skills.

The Cook & Kitchen Education Support role is responsible for assisting in the efficient delivery of food production and catering services across breakfast and lunch service, short courses, and community events. Working collaboratively with the kitchen team, the role supports food preparation, cooking, presentation, and mise en place activities while maintaining high standards of hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness in accordance with Food Safety Victoria requirements. The position also assists with stock control, storage, equipment organisation, and provides support to teaching staff and students during practical kitchen activities, ensuring smooth day-to-day kitchen operations.

As Cook & Kitchen Education Support, you will:

  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness, and adhere to policies and procedures, in accordance with Institute requirements and the Food Safety Victoria plan.
  • With the LCB kitchen team, and consistent with the Food Safety Plan:
  • prepare food items to support the delivery of LCB programs
  • prepare, cook and present quality food for various restaurants and catering requirements including staff and student events
  • prepare, cook and store stock and bulk items required for classes
  • monitor food deliveries and select equipment including organisation and storage
  • assist with mise en place for chef demonstrations
  • Consistent with the Food Safety Victoria Plan, maintain inventory and cost control systems, rotate stock and ensure wastage is minimised by careful supervision of food preparation methods.
  • Work with teachers and assist occasional student groups that require instructed kitchen workshops and practical kitchen experience.
  • Regularly meet with supervisory staff regarding relevant operational matters.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification in a relevant hospitality or culinary field.
  • Strong understanding of the hospitality industry, culinary techniques, the Food Safety Victoria Plan, sustainable food principles, and special dietary requirements, with a passion for delivering high-quality food.
  • Catering and menu development experience in similar hospitality roles, catering for large numbers under tight schedules, developing seasonal menus, preparing high-quality meals within budget, and delivering diverse food options across occasions, cultures, and dietary needs.
  • Proven ability to coordinate workflow, prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, manage competing demands, maintain attention to detail under pressure, and utilise hospitality technology to meet service priorities.
  • WWCC and Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Victorian ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
