The Opportunity

Reporting to program co-leads Associate Professor David Slucki and Dr Susan Carland, the focus of this role will be to provide dedicated academic research support to the Monash Campus Cohesion Initiative — a Vice-Chancellor-funded program investigating antisemitism, Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian sentiment across Monash campuses. Working alongside a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Research Assistant, this is a research-only position, and represents a unique opportunity to contribute to nationally significant, evidence-based research.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting comprehensive critical literature reviews on antisemitism, Islamophobia, and anti-Palestinian sentiment, synthesising local and international scholarship to inform the program's research design
  • Contributing to the design and implementation of mixed-methods research, including qualitative and quantitative instruments such as interviews, focus groups, and surveys
  • Managing data collection activities including participant recruitment, interview facilitation, and focus group coordination in accordance with Monash ethics protocols
  • Conducting rigorous qualitative and quantitative data analysis and drawing evidence-based conclusions to advance the program's research agenda
  • Spearheading high-quality academic publications targeting Q1 journals, conference papers, and other scholarly outputs
  • Preparing internal reports, discussion papers, and public-facing content
  • Facilitating and participating in student co-design workshops and community engagement activities
  • Proactively managing research timelines and deliverables to meet commitments to the Chief Investigators and the Vice-Chancellor's Office
  • Collaborating closely with the research team and providing support to the Research Assistant and student researchers as required

The ideal candidate will bring a strong educational background. The role requires the appointee to have a doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline or a closely related field.
