Part-Time Primary School Literacy / Numeracy Tutor (Foundation–Year 7)

Location: Hybrid, Springvale and surrounding suburbs (we offer in-person tutoring, serving families in the South Eastern areas - local tutors highly encouraged to apply)

Type: Part-Time

Pay: Starting from $28 per hour, depending on experience (Gross)

Hours: Flexible, starting at 2-6 hours per week with room to grow into additional hours based on demand and performance.

Mandatory Application Requirement

We are seeking passionate, reliable, and knowledgeable tutors to work with primary students (F-7). The ideal candidate will be either a University Student with previous experience working with primary school children or a Retired Primary Teacher.

  • Attention to Detail: You are meticulous in following curriculum guidelines, lesson planning procedures and reporting procedures (ClickUp).

  • Follow Instructions: You can reliably execute lesson plans, read and follow through our SOPs (System and Operating procedures), and complete administrative processes on time.

  • Asks for Help as Needed: You know when to troubleshoot independently and when to reach out to management for complex issues.

  • Confident Communicator: You are quick to engage and adapt to new relationships with the team, students, and parents.

About Write With Confidence

Founded in 2020 by a qualified primary school teacher, Write With Confidence is a specialised tutoring service dedicated to helping primary school students (Foundation–Year 7) achieve A+ grades in Literacy and Numeracy. While we specialise in 1:1 literacy and phonics, we offer maths to support a holistic approach to primary education. Our mission is to ensure every student builds foundational skills and confidence so they never fall behind in their school learning. We provide the structured curriculum; you provide the excellent teaching and personal touch of in-home tuition.

About the Role

This is a dynamic, hybrid role where you will travel to students' homes to deliver high-impact, one-on-one sessions. You will be a crucial mentor, providing targeted support that helps children master reading, writing, comprehension, and mathematical concepts, all while aligning with the Victorian Curriculum F–7.

What You'll Do:

  • Deliver Tailored In-Person Tutoring: Conduct engaging, one-on-one sessions in students' homes, focused on Literacy (reading, writing, comprehension, spelling, and grammar) and Numeracy (core mathematical concepts and problem-solving).

  • Align with Victorian Curriculum: Help design lessons and activities that directly support and reinforce the core content and achievement standards of the Victorian Primary Curriculum F–7 for both Literacy and Numeracy (training will be provided)

  • Monitor Progress: Use our system (ClickUp, Google Drive) to track student progress, write detailed weekly session reports, and provide constructive feedback to parents and management.

  • Participate in 1:1 and Team Meetings: This participation is essential for your training and will help you get the hang of the job during your probationary period.

  • Build Confidence: Employ patient and encouraging teaching methods to foster a positive attitude towards learning, helping students achieve their A+ potential.

  • Potential Growth to 2IC: Step into leadership position to help out and train new tutors.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking individuals with excellent knowledge of the Victorian primary education system and the following mandatory resources:

  • Reliable Transportation: Mandatory Australian Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to client homes.

  • Deep Curriculum Knowledge: Strong familiarity with the content and achievement standards of the Victorian Primary Curriculum F–7 for both Literacy and Numeracy (training will be provided)

  • Targeted Candidates:

    • University Students that hold past experience working with primary school children

    • OR Retired/Semi-Retired Teachers with some proof of prior work in a primary school setting (e.g., resume, reference letter, or statement of service—VIT registration is not required for this role).

  • Availability: Must have availability (at least 3 days a week - Tuesday and Friday are ideal) during key after-school hours (3:30 PM – 7:30 PM). Candidates would also have availability during the day on Monday from 2pm to 3pm for team and 1:1 meetings - online).

  • Mandatory Screening: Must hold or be willing to obtain an Employee Victorian Working With Children Check (WWCC).
