A little bit about the role

Our six libraries are thriving community spaces and in 2024/25 there were more than:

  • 2 million loans

  • 970,000 visits

  • 38,000 program attendees

  • 81,000 enquiries

As Branch Lead, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of Camberwell Library, ensuring services continue to meet the diverse and evolving needs of the Boroondara community.

This is a fast-paced and rewarding leadership role where you will:

  • Deliver contemporary library services that support recreation, culture, education, and access to information

  • Lead, support, and develop staff to foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture

  • Build strong internal and external partnerships and community networks

  • Contribute to strategic projects and continuous service improvements

  • Champion community engagement and lifelong learning initiatives

  • Support innovative digital and customer service experiences

A little bit about you

You’re an experienced people leader who is passionate about libraries, community-focused services and creating positive customer experiences. You will bring:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills

  • A collaborative and positive approach to staff development

  • A commitment to innovation and continuous improvement

  • Excellent relationship-building and community engagement skills

  • Experience delivering high-quality customer services

  • Library experience is highly desirable, but not essential

Employment Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in library and information science or relevant experience, is advantageous.

  • National Police Record Check and valid Working with Children Clearance required.
