Position Summary:
The Maintenance/Gardener plays a key role in maintaining the safety, presentation, and functionality of indoor & outdoor spaces across two nearby school campuses. This hands-on role suits someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, and takes pride in keeping outdoor areas clean, attractive, and well-kept. This role would suit an ex-tradesman, gardener, builder or electrician.
Key Responsibilities:
Working within a team of two required to provide general and basic maintenance services and repairs, mow lawns, trim edges, and maintain garden areas using appropriate tools and equipment
Prune trees, shrubs, and hedges for safety and appearance
Weed, mulch, fertilize, and maintain garden beds and landscaped areas
Operate and maintain power tools, garden tools and machinery safely and efficiently
Remove litter, sweep paths, and keep outdoor walkways clean and safe
Report hazards, damage, or safety concerns to Operations/Account Manager, and nominated school staff
Support event or seasonal setup and pack-down of outdoor areas when required
Follow health and safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
Maintain respectful, professional conduct while working in public or sensitive environments such as schools and aged care homes
Key Skills & Attributes:
Previous experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, landscaping, or outdoor cleaning desirable. On the job training provided.
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
Able to work independently and follow direction
High attention to detail and strong work ethic
Respectful and courteous behaviour around students, staff, residents, and the public
Familiarity with safe handling of grounds equipment, most tools, ride-on mower and chemicals
Good communication skills and ability to work across multiple sites
Current valid Driver's Licence (required)
Working with Children Check (required for work at schools and child-related sites)
Working with Children Check can be obtained after receiving a position offer
Police Check (may be required for aged care or council contracts)

Work Environment & Conditions:
Outdoor physical work across multiple locations
Use of power tools, lawn mowers, blowers, whipper snippers, and other grounds equipment
Will involve work during school hours, near vulnerable persons, or in public spaces
Casual hours based on operational needs and site requirements
Job Type: Casual (Approx. 8 hours per day, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
