Shift: Monday - Friday | 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM | OT Available
Pay Rate: $63.59/hr + 16.5% Superannuation + Income Protection

Their state-of-the-art Laverton facility houses the Melt Shop, Bar Mill, Rod Mill, Billet Yard, Warehouse, and Maintenance departments. The Opportunity

We're seeking experienced and dedicated Mechanical Fitters to join the Melt Shop team. In this hands-on role, you'll ensure critical furnace and associated plant equipment operates reliably, minimising downtime and supporting continuous production. Beyond technical expertise, you'll contribute to a safety-first culture, mentor team members, and support operational efficiency across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on furnace systems and heavy industrial equipment
• Work across hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, and drive line systems
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults to minimise downtime
• Install, align, and assemble critical mechanical components
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and monitor equipment performance
• Support planned shutdowns and breakdown maintenance activities
• Promote a strong safety culture and uphold housekeeping standards
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and team mentoring

What We're Looking For

• Trade-qualified Mechanical / Maintenance Fitter
• Proven experience in heavy manufacturing or steel production environments
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
• Hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, and rotating equipment
• Welding skills (TIG, MIG, or ARC) are advantageous
• Forklift licence is desirable
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills and commitment to safety
• Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol testing
