The opportunity

This Building Inspector role sits within the Building Control team, reporting to the Deputy Municipal Building Surveyor. It plays a key part in delivering statutory building control functions, including inspections, investigations and enforcement, while contributing technical expertise and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

What you’ll do
  • Carry out delegated Municipal Building Surveyor functions under legislation
  • Conduct mandatory inspections, investigations and enforcement actions
  • Assess applications and prepare permits, notices and building orders
  • Provide expert advice on complex building control matters
  • Support statutory reporting and mentor team members
What you need to succeed
  • Registration as a Building Inspector (Limited or Unlimited – BPC)
  • Strong knowledge of Building Act, Regulations, NCC and standards
  • Experience in building surveying, ideally within Local Government
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

Pre-Employment Requirements 

Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check and a Pre-Employment Medical Check.
