We're partnering with a globally recognised technology organisation seeking an experienced Systems Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented engineers responsible for developing and operating critical software solutions that support large-scale cloud and networking environments.

In this role you'll lead a team of System Engineers responsible for designing, building and operating software platforms that enable large-scale infrastructure and operational excellence. You'll combine people leadership, software engineering expertise and operational excellence to deliver solutions that have a direct impact on customers operating at global scale.

Key activities

  • Lead, mentor and grow a team of Systems Engineers
  • Drive the design, development and delivery of scalable software solutions
  • Own product and platform lifecycles from design through deployment and ongoing operations
  • Establish engineering best practices across development, testing, deployment and monitoring
  • Develop and execute technology roadmaps aligned to business objectives
  • Partner with stakeholders across engineering, operations and infrastructure teams
  • Champion automation, reliability, standardisation and operational excellence
  • Lead incident management, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Foster a strong engineering culture focused on innovation, ownership and customer outcomes


Skills and experience

  • Previous experience leading software development, systems engineering or platform engineering teams
  • Strong technical background in large-scale distributed systems, infrastructure or cloud environments
  • Experience building and operating highly available services and platforms
  • Hands-on understanding of modern programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, C#, C++ or similar
  • Strong experience driving operational excellence, automation and service reliability
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Track record of delivering complex technical programs in fast-paced environments
  • Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain government security clearance
