About the Role:

SECASA is seeking a dedicated and skilled Art Therapist - Grade 2 to join our multidisciplinary sexual assault and family violence counselling team as a part-time (0.8EFT) parental leave cover until 12 March 2027 to work in our South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence team (SECASA).

This fixed‑term parental leave backfill role (0.8 EFT) provides an opportunity to contribute to meaningful, trauma‑informed therapeutic work with adults and young people (16+) who have experienced sexual assault and/or family violence.

Working across multiple SECASA locations—including Dandenong MDC, Peninsula Assault Centre (PenSAC, Seaford), and East Bentleigh—you will deliver individual and group art therapy services, crisis responses, and therapeutic interventions within a supportive and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality, evidence‑based art therapy assessments and interventions.
• Deliver trauma‑informed therapeutic support to adults and young people impacted by sexual assault and/or family violence.
• Provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning and triage as required.
• Facilitate and contribute to the development of group therapy programs.
• Maintain high standards of documentation, reporting and clinical record keeping.
• Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and participate in cross‑sector partnerships.
• Provide supervision to Art Therapy students as delegated.
• Engage in reflective practice, quality improvement, research and professional development.
• Comply with all relevant legislation including MARAM, FVISS, CISS, privacy and mandatory reporting.

About You

You are a compassionate and skilled Art Therapist who thrives in a trauma‑informed, client‑centred environment. You demonstrate:

• Two year Post Graduate degree or Masters in Art Therapy or Creative Arts Therapy
• Eligible for Professional membership of Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies and Association
• Experience working therapeutically with complex trauma, sexual assault and/or family violence.
• Strong crisis intervention capability, including risk assessment and safety planning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a team culture.
