Position Summary
We are seeking a Paediatric Occupational Therapist to prepare high-quality medico-legal reports for children and adolescents with a range of developmental, neurological, physical, cognitive and psychosocial conditions.
With guidance, the paediatric expert will work alongside research assistants to provide expert medicolegal assessment reports and opinions relating to care needs, equipment and home modification prescription, therapy recommendations and long-term support planning. Reports may be based on clinical records, assessment summaries and other relevant documentation or require a home-based assessment to formulate realistic, evidence-based opinion on past care and recommendations for future care and occupational therapy needs.

Key Responsibilities
Review clinical records, assessment reports, educational information and other relevant documentation.
Provide expert paediatric occupational therapy opinion for medico-legal assessments and reports.
Develop realistic and evidence-based recommendations for children and adolescents regarding:
Occupational therapy intervention requirements
Attendant care and support needs
Equipment and assistive technology
Home and environmental modifications
Educational and community participation supports
Future therapy and rehabilitation requirements
Conduct home visits when additional assessment information is required.
Maintain awareness of contemporary paediatric occupational therapy practices and evidence-based interventions.
Ensure recommendations are practical, achievable, and aligned with the child's functional presentation and reasonably anticipated developmental trajectory.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Previous experience in medico-legal assessment and reporting is not a requirement.
Essential
Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
Minimum 7 years' clinical experience in paediatric occupational therapy.
Advanced clinical reasoning and report-writing skills.
Strong understanding of paediatric functional assessment, participation, and support needs across home, school, and community environments.
Ability to formulate long-term therapy, care, and support recommendations based on available clinical information.
Excellent communication and collaborative-work skills.
Desirable
Experience working with children and adolescents with a broad range of conditions is required
Experience in care planning, NDIS, compensation or disability support services is helpful.
