Suburban Connect is a consortium of global leaders in tunnelling including CPB Contractors, Ghella and Acciona Construction delivering the Tunnels South package on Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East, on behalf of Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).

We have a broad range of roles available to build our diverse and inclusive workforce, including construction and engineering, planning and environmental management, corporate support, administration, communications and many others.

SRL East from Cheltenham to Box Hill is now under construction, with tunnelling to start in 2026 and trains to be running by 2035.

Suburban Connect is constructing the 16kms of tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley using 4 tunnel boring machines and a range of excavation methods. The works also include 55 cross passages, 2 tunnel portal structures, 2 station box excavations and associated supports.

Suburban Connect is seeking a dedicated and proactive Safety Coordinator to contribute to the successful delivery of in-ground structures and tunnelling activities. This dynamic role presents an outstanding opportunity for an early-career safety professional to develop their expertise within a transformative, large-scale infrastructure project.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate reliability, strong organisational skills, and a collaborative disposition, working closely with the construction delivery team to ensure the achievement of exceptional safety outcomes. This position offers substantial potential for career growth, with mentorship and guidance provided by experienced senior safety professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Injury Management – Liaise with Site personnel on receiving notification of injury.
  • Contact employers and provide guidance throughout the injury management process.
  • Facilitate and review Return to Work (RTW) plan for injured parties (IP) returning to site or following day (latest).
  • Liaise with supervisor, employer and site adviser to monitor IP’s progress at work, within first day of recommencement.
  • Assist with booking follow-up GP visits if required (will depend on the capacity of the Subcontractor to manage).
  • Manage up-to-date health monitoring data using Solve Health Platform.
  • Review all domestic transfers.
  • Book in health monitoring assessments.
  • Review all tasks on Solve Health to ensure nothing is missed or allocated to the incorrect person.
  • Enter injuries from Incident Management System into Solve Injury Platform.
  • Update Certificate of Capacity (CoC) and RTW plans, as received.
  • Enter all notes into individual files.
  • Manage First Aid Risk Assessments and First Aid Inventory across sites.
  • Participate in Emergency Response Drills.
Key Skills/Requirements
  • Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (desirable), Cert IV in OHS as a minimum.
  • Experience in the civil or civil construction space is desirable, but not essential; candidates from other high-risk industries will be considered.
  • Experience within a Tier 1 or 2 company and the management of subcontractors (desirable).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good personal time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and manage assigned workload.
  • Proficient with technology and digital systems.
