We have a Environmental, Health & Safety Officer position to develop and maintain effective Environmental, Health & Safety Management Systems.
You will be reporting to the HR Manager, and your key responsibilities will entail the following but not limited to,
Ensure effective implementation and administration of Environmental and Safety management systems.
Advise Operations Manager on all matters relating to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS).
Maintain and control all EHS documentation (Procedures / Forms / Policies / Work Instructions / Manuals, EHS legal compliance register, Site risk register).
Undertake investigations and analysis of environmental and safety incidents through the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) system, including raising reports, following up actions, reviewing responses, and verifying closure.
Develop, maintain, and conduct Internal Audit schedules in line with ISO14001 and ISO45001 requirements, and communicate audit outcomes to key stakeholders.
Coordinate ISO14001 and ISO45001 external audits and support preparation activities.
Prepare monthly reports relating to environmental and safety objectives and performance indicators.
Communicate environmental and safety requirements and updates across the organisation.
Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental, sustainability and safety performance.
Support development, implementation, and promotion of sustainability programs to achieve environmental, economic, and social outcomes.
Monitor workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and ensure effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Lead incident reporting, investigation, and injury management processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Drive employee awareness and training programs on health, safety, and environmental practices.
Monitor and report on energy consumption, identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements, and support implementation of energy-saving and sustainability initiatives.
Ensure compliance with relevant environmental, health and safety legislation, standards, and company policies.
Develop, implement and maintain emergency preparedness and planning, including drills and response procedures.
Conduct regular 6S workplace inspections (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain, Safety) to ensure housekeeping, visual management, and safety standards are maintained, and drive corrective actions for identified gaps.
Lead implementation of Energy Management System (ISO50001)
Carry out other tasks as directed by Management in support of EHS objectives.
The successful applicant will have the following qualities:
Previous experience in quality administration or quality engineering role is desired.
Basic understanding of Environmental, Health and Safety Systems.
A qualified Internal Auditor or having past experience in conducting and organizing internal audits.
Ability to implement changes and lead initiatives.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills: Excel / Word / Pronto (or similar) & Outlook.
Excellent communication both written and verbal.
Methodical approach to problem solving.
Superior attention to detail.
