About the Role:
We are seeking to appoint a technical Sales Specialist - Microscopy. In this role you will manage a specialist portfolio of products, with a focus on clinical and research applications, within a defined geographical territory (Victoria), with occasional out of territory travel, as directed by the Field Sales Manager to maximize the sales and gross profit derived from all customers in the assigned specialist territory.
You should have an an acute drive to develop and hone their technical skillset through hands-on practice, be it guided or autonomous learning. This is a technical specialist sales role as opposed to a standard sales role, and consistently increasing one’s technical skillset is vital to success. The incumbent will be expected to troubleshoot applications and train end users on instrumentation.
Your main responsibilities include:
Responsible for achieving sales and gross profit results from the territory against set targets.

Territory covers commercial, clinical pathology, and non-key general accounts in other market areas, such as high-end laser microscopy, digital scanners and industrial microscopy.
Support initiatives undertaken to enhance Evident Australia’s market position.
Develop an in-depth understanding of the product range in both operation and application.
Provide technical support and training to customers for both new and existing equipment in the market including, but not limited to, general function and troubleshooting.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the customer base making up the territory.
Maintain company property, including mobile telephone, laptop, literature and demonstration products in the best possible condition
To work closely with Marketing to maximise any opportunities which may be present in the market and to co-ordinate marketing effort with sales effort to achieve the best possible result.
Develop sales and business practice skills in keeping with the needs of the position to ensure that productivity is optimized.
To provide through regular reporting, market related activities on:
o Sales
o Competition
o Grant Funding/market opportunities
o Orders won/lost
Arrange appointments, whenever necessary to meet with the key decision makers to support the personal plans and marketing promotions which are underway.
To work closely with Marketing to maximise any opportunities which may be present in the market and to co-ordinate marketing effort with sales effort to achieve the best possible result.
Liaise with any relevant team members in order to arrange products in advance of any demonstration which may be planned in the weeks following.
Liaise with customer service personnel on a regular basis to be briefed on developments that have taken place in the territory and to be generally aware of orders being placed.
Maintain accurate customer records on CRM. Information should include full customer/contact details, visit reports and any other relevant marketing information.
Follow-up sales lead that are received from national and regional promotional activities and report on the outcome of such leads to the Field Sales Manager.
Prepare territory plans each year to continually prospect for new business opportunities outside established relationships with known customers.
Liaise with Product Managers to ensure assistance is provided, where necessary, with application and technical aspects of products within the respective group.
Attend and actively contribute to training programs as these arise; where appropriate, attend and represent Evident Australia at trade shows and other events as required from time to time.
Actively contribute towards the development of a team approach within the organisation.
Occasional domestic and international travel is expected, including occasional work out of standard working hours for travel, conferences, and trainings.
Quality Assurance
Maintain adherence to the Quality Assurance System and report all customer complaints (internal and external) and conditions that are adverse to the operational efficiency of the Department or achievement of quality, and to make improvement suggestions as appropriate.
What we are looking for:
A background in science, with preferably tertiary qualifications and/or professional selling skills, or other relevant industry/technical experience.
Formal sales skills training in a field sales role is preferred, but not essential.
Ability to communicate at all levels along with excellent written and verbal skills and an ability to present logical and cohesive arguments
Achievement oriented, tenacious and a determination to succeed.
Ability to work harmoniously in a team environment.
A desire to deliver excellent service.
Competent level of computer and software technology capabilities.
Sensitive to the needs of the market and understand the balance between simply providing a service by calling on customers, and providing a service which is commercially beneficial to both the customer and the Company.
