About the Role
Hair Doctors Australia is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Technician to join our clinical team. The role involves assisting medical practitioners in hair restoration procedures, supporting operating theatre preparation, and ensuring high clinical standards across patient care and surgical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating diagnostic and monitoring equipment such as ECG machines, blood pressure monitors, oxygen saturation monitors, temperature monitors, and pulse rate monitors as part of pre-assessment and ongoing patient monitoring during procedures in the operating theatre.
- Assisting surgical teams during procedures in the operating theatre, including retrieving and preparing medical instruments for hair transplant surgery.
- Recording ECGs for patients when required, both pre-operatively and intra-operatively.
- Collecting blood samples, performing venipuncture, and conducting pre-operative urinalysis testing.
- Maintaining, setting up, and checking the operating theatre and hair transplant workstations on a daily basis, including preparing the theatre before surgery, preparing local anaesthetics, sterilising surgical equipment after procedures, and adhering to strict infection control protocols throughout the day.
- Preparing patients' take-home medication packs and liaising with pharmacies regarding prescriptions, forwarding prescriptions, and collecting prescribed medications for patients.
- Harvesting, preparing, cleaning, and sorting hair grafts for hair transplant surgery.
- Assisting the surgeon with the placement of hair grafts during procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
- AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma, or at least three years of experience.
- At least 1 year of highly relevant full time work experience required .
- Experience working in a clinical or surgical environment is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of sterilisation procedures, infection control, and clinical safety standards.
- Ability to operate basic patient monitoring equipment, including heart rate and blood pressure monitors.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a precision-based medical environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a clinical team.
