About the role

Kings Road Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis. Based in St Albans VIC 3021, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, playing a vital role in ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience for everyone who visits our centre. This position is essential to the smooth operation of our medical practice, as you will manage patient interactions, administrative tasks, and support the clinical team in delivering exceptional healthcare services.

What you'll be doing

  1. Greeting patients in a warm and professional manner upon arrival at the centre

  2. Managing patient appointments using our practice management system, including scheduling, rescheduling and confirming bookings

  3. Handling patient inquiries via phone, email and in-person with courtesy and efficiency

  4. Processing patient registrations and maintaining accurate patient records and documentation

  5. Collecting patient fees and processing payments using appropriate payment systems

  6. Assisting with clinical administrative tasks, such as filing medical records and preparing patient files for appointments

  7. Coordinating with healthcare providers and external services as required

  8. Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to privacy regulations and medical centre policies

  9. Supporting the wider team to ensure the smooth operation of the medical centre

What we're looking for

  1. Previous experience working as a receptionist, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting

  2. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and courteous manner

  4. Proficiency in using computer systems and medical practice management software

  5. Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administrative processes

  6. A patient-focused approach with genuine empathy and understanding

  7. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required

  8. Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and data entry

  9. Understanding of confidentiality and compliance with healthcare privacy regulations

  10. Current immunisations and working with children check (WWC) or willingness to obtain these as required
