As a Cook at BILLY GOAT HILL BRASSERIE, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining excellent kitchen standards. You will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service, food quality, and compliance with food safety requirements.

We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and passionate about creating great food in a busy hospitality environment.

Task & responsibilities

  • Inspecting ingredients and food supplies to maintain high quality and freshness standards.
  • Operating and monitoring kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, and cooking appliances to ensure correct cooking temperatures.
  • Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in line with menu specifications.
  • Enhancing flavours through appropriate seasoning and cooking techniques.
  • Presenting meals attractively with appropriate sauces, garnishes, and portion control.
  • Ensuring food is stored correctly in temperature-controlled environments in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Preparing meals to accommodate special dietary requirements and customer preferences.
  • Assisting with menu planning and estimating ingredient and stock requirements.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior kitchen staff and apprentices where required.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.

Qualification & experience

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a similar cook or kitchen role.
  • Certificate III in commercial cookery or relevant qualification required. 
  • Strong understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Passion for hospitality and quality food presentation.
