About the business

Penny For Pound are a busy bakery cafe, operating out of our custom built HQ in Moorabbin. We produce a high-quality product, baked fresh daily and delivered to various cafes around Melbourne 365 days a year. We create a wide range of sourdough bread, flakey pastries, cakes and cookies for our local community, and welcome them to our open production kitchen and cafe space.

We are a friendly, tight knit team, who take pride in what we do.

About the role/s

  • Part Time and Casual Positions available for entry level role.

  • Plenty of hours available for the right candidates.

  • Immediate start available.

  • These roles would suit someone keen to learn and kickstart their kitchen career. Also open to students looking to learn hands on skills.

  • Previous experience in a production kitchen environment will make you a strong candidate for this role, but is not essential.

  • You will learn how to assist our team with production tasks, traying up products, weighing recipes, basic food prep etc. Dishes and cleaning will also be part of this role.

  • Training Provided for someone with a strong work ethic, reliable, and interested in learning new things

  • Variety of Jobs and general kitchen duties such as: Traying up products, Cleaning, Dishes, mopping floors etc, Packaging Items, Checking off orders, putting away deliveries

  • Variety of start times, but early mornings and weekend work are required.

To be successful in this role you must have the following qualities:

  • Reliable and Punctual for rostered shifts

  • Work quickly, neatly, and efficiently

  • Attention to Detail

  • Some previous kitchen experience will make you a strong candidate for the role, but is not essential.

  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Excellent Verbal Communication Skills

  • Take constructive feedback

  • Meet set deadlines for tasks completed

  • Physically fit - some manual lifting involved in a busy kitchen environment

  • Be flexible to a changing roster 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Previous kitchen experience preferred 

  • Must speak and understand English

  • Available a minimum of 2-3 days per week

  • We are looking for long term, committed staff members that are keen to grow with the business.

  • Own transport, or ability to get to and from Moorabbin 3189
