We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing, seasoning, cooking, portioning, and presenting food products in accordance with business standards, customer expectations, food safety requirements, and kosher kitchen procedures.
This role requires practical commercial cookery experience, strong food preparation skills, and an understanding of kosher food handling, including separation of meat/dairy requirements, permitted ingredients, and Halachic standards relevant to food preparation.

Task & responsibilities
- Prepare, season and cook chicken, meat, side dishes, sauces and other menu items in accordance with business recipes and kitchen procedures.
- Examine ingredients and food products to ensure freshness, quality, suitability and compliance with food safety requirements.
- Operate ovens, grills, fryers, burners and other commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor and regulate cooking temperatures, cooking times and food storage temperatures.
- Prepare food in accordance with kosher and Halachic cookery requirements, including correct handling, separation, storage and preparation processes.
- Follow procedures relating to kosher ingredients, kosher certification, meat preparation, supervised food handling and kitchen cleanliness.
- Store food in temperature controlled facilities and ensure stock rotation and safe storage practices are followed.
- Maintain a clean, hygienic and organised kitchen area in accordance with food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Work cooperatively with management and other staff to ensure efficient daily kitchen operations.
Qualification & experience
- Must have strict compliance with Religious Jewish practices of food preparation to comply with Kosher Australia requirements (Mashgiach)
- Relevant commercial cookery experience in a restaurant, catering, food service or commercial kitchen environment.
- Formal qualifications desirable.
- Experience preparing and cooking chicken, meat and related food items in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of kosher food preparation and Halachic kitchen requirements, or demonstrated ability to work under kosher supervision.
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, temperature control and stock rotation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes, procedures and supervisor instructions.
