Piatella Café & Bar in Glen Waverley is seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in modern Australian and European cuisine, excellent kitchen management skills, and a flair for creating bold, flavorful dishes.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily kitchen operations, maintaining food safety standards, and contributing to menu development.


Benefits

Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 per Annum + Superannuation 


Task & responsibilities

  • Create and update the menu, considering seasonal ingredients, customer preferences, and food trends.
  • Oversee the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Manage kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and delegating tasks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Monitor the quality of ingredients and dishes, ensuring they meet health and safety standards.
  • Order and manage inventory, ensuring that ingredients are stocked and minimizing waste.
  • Monitor food costs and work within budget constraints while maintaining quality.
  • Ensure that the kitchen adheres to health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Occasionally engage with customers to gather feedback and make adjustments based on their preferences.
  • Plan and execute special events, catering, or private dining experiences as needed.
  • Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques through workshops, courses, and industry networking.

Qualification & experience

  • 1 to 3 years of experience as a Chef & Cook.
  • A Diploma in Hospitality Management or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Exceptional communication abilities.
  • Australian full work rights.

The inspiration for Piatella began during a family trip to Europe, two years before opening our doors on Kingsway. As we wandered through the charming streets of Paris, we were captivated by the aroma of freshly made pastries and authentic crêpes. In particular, the rich flavour of Nutella crêpes left a lasting impression and sparked the vision for what would eventually become Piatella. Food has always played an important role in our family, particularly the flavours and traditions of both Greek and Australian cuisine.

The name Piatella, derived from the Greek word for “platter,” reflects our commitment to generous servings, quality ingredients, and flavourful meals designed to be enjoyed and shared. At Piatella, we believe great food brings people together. Our aim is to create a relaxed and welcoming dining environment where guests can enjoy a unique menu inspired by international flavours and local Australian tastes, delivering a memorable dining experience for every customer.
