Located within the grounds of Diaco's Garden Nursery in Heatherton, we offer a unique garden-to-plate style vibe. Our guests also enjoy fresh ingredients sourced directly from our garden.


The Role

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and friendly Front of house professional to join our team. This is an opportunity to work in a flexible, family-friendly environment where friendly customer service and a genuine passion for hospitality and customer service are key. As a member of our front-of-house team, you will play an important role in creating memorable experiences for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation and plating of food in our display cabinets.

  • Preparation of cold drinks.

  • Opening and closing of venue.

  • Provide warm and welcoming service to all guests, embodying our "Welcome to Our Home" philosophy.

  • Greet customers promptly upon arrival with a genuine smile and friendly demeanour.

  • Take orders accurately, offering suggestions and upselling when appropriate.

  • Serve food and beverages efficiently, ensuring presentation meets our quality standards.

  • Practise active listening to understand and accommodate guests' needs and preferences.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the dining area, including setting and clearing tables promptly.

  • Assist in preparing the café for service and closing duties, following all health and safety regulations.

  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure seamless service and timely delivery of orders.

  • Participate in community engagement activities and promote our sustainability initiatives.

  • Stay knowledgeable about menu offerings, including daily specials and ingredients sourced from our garden.

About You

  • A Front of House Individual with at least 1-2 Years worth of experience in table service.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on creating positive guest experiences.

  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and support colleagues during busy periods.

  • Friendly, approachable, and well-presented, reflecting the welcoming atmosphere of Fred and Peg's.

  • Flexible availability, including weekdays and weekends.

  • Reliable and a strong work ethic with the ability to remain calm and organised under pressure.

  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.

  • Passionate about hospitality, with a genuine interest in food and culture.

  • Willingness to learn and embrace our values of honesty, respect, and authenticity.
