The Role

We are seeking a Product Developer to join our Commercial team, reporting to the Product Development Lead.

In this role, you will assist in developing product ranges that deliver on customer needs and commercial objectives. Working closely with the Commercial, Operations and Marketing teams, you will support product development activities from concept through to delivery, with a strong focus on costing, material efficiency, product profitability and market trends.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple projects, balancing creativity with strong organisation and attention to detail in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new and existing product ranges (EPD & NPD) across core, seasonal and indent categories

  • Support the delivery of annual volume, value and net margin targets through effective product development

  • Identify opportunities to improve product costs and profitability through smart product specifications, sourcing and material efficiencies

  • Build strong understanding of competitor activity, categories and market trends to identify gaps and opportunities

  • Work collaboratively across Commercial and Operations teams to support JCA’s product strategy

  • Operate within the Critical Path process to ensure development milestones and deadlines are met

  • Organise and coordinate seasonal NPD samples

  • Prepare and maintain accurate product specifications, including care labels and spec packs

  • Support the Commercial team with product development and marketing-related requests as required

  • Liaise with creative agencies where required

  • Ensure all products are developed in line with company standards, policies and procedures

  • Identify and assist in implementing improvements in quality and compliance processes

  • Support ad-hoc internal and external requests as directed by the Product Development Lead

Safety, Health & Environment
  • Actively support and comply with all JCA Safety, Health & Environment policies and procedures

  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others

  • Report injuries, incidents or unsafe conditions immediately and cooperate with management to maintain a safe workplace

About You

You are comfortable communicating with a range of stakeholders and remain composed in a fast‑paced environment. You bring a strong willingness to learn and develop your skills, and any experience supporting customer presentations is advantageous.

You will bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

  • Previous experience in Product Development

  • Strong administrative skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy

  • Ability to plan ahead, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • A flexible, proactive and team-oriented approach

  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)

  • Experience using ERP systems (Pronto preferred)

Desirable:

  • Experience in product buying or manufacturing

  • Previous exposure to textiles, bedding or the textile industry
